Station House Motel Golden Bay

Collingwood, Golden Bay, NZ

Here is an front view of the outside of The Station House Motel Golden Bay.  This cozy little family run motel in Golden Bay is one of the best around for value, comfort and convenience.  The Station House Motel was built in 1907 and until 1967 it was Collingwood’s police station.  After the gold boom in Golden Bay was over the population diminished and there was no need for two police stations. The Station House Motel was then sold to The Salvation Army and ran as a Bed and Breakfast until 2010 when it was tastefully renovated and turned into a beautiful little motel.

The Station House Motel Golden Bay has four rooms in total and they are all slightly different.  In the front of the main villa there are 2 studio rooms.  One is slightly bigger than the other.  The bigger of the 2 rooms is called Studio with dining room.  Both studio rooms have one queen bed and one single bed, with en-suite bathrooms.  There is a couch and TV in both rooms along with a kitchenette.  The kitchenette only has basic cooking facilities, ie, microwave, fridge, Jug, tea and coffee facilities.  There is no sink in the kitchenettes but all dishes are washed daily as part of the daily service.

The Studio with Dining room has a second room with a dining table and 4 chairs.  The Studio room only has a coffee table to eat off and the couch is the only seat, so if you do plan on eating in then the studio with dining room is better.  There is also a BBQ that can be used anytime for anyone staying in either studio room.  Also outside there is 2 seating areas.

The larger of all four rooms are the two cottage units.  One of the cottage units is the Family Cottage and the other one is the Cottage with Garden View. The cottage with Garden View is the most private of the cottages.  It has one queen bed, a full kitchen, no oven but hotplates, en-suite bathroom, TV, couch and small dining table with 2 chairs.  This room is wheelchair accessible.  The beauty about this room is there are french doors that open up onto a very private deck overlooking a lawn area surrounded by kiwi fruit bushes, blackberries, an orange tree and a Mandarin tree.  There is another seating area around the side of the cottage and both decks are covered so even if it is raining you can still enjoy going outside.  The cottage with garden view is dog friendly.

The fourth room is the Family Cottage,  This room is ideal for 4 people as it has one queen bed in the main area and in the small bedroom is two single beds.  The couch is a sofa bed so if you need more beds then this unfolds to be a double bed.  All linen is supplied.  As well as being the largest room at The Station House Motel Golden Bay, it also has a TV, full kitchen with hotplates but no oven, full size fridge, dining table with four chairs.  There is also 2 outdoor areas, one has 2 seats and is under the varandah and the other seating area is a four seater table with sun umbrella.
