Driving

Collingwood is 2 hours driving from Nelson.

Drive from Nelson towards Motueka taking State Highway 60. Passing Motueka, continue over the Takaka Hill, the ‘Marble Mountain’, into Golden Bay, then pass through Takaka to Collingwood, near Farewell Spit, the sandy tip of scenic Golden Bay. Takaka Hill takes about 45 mins and is very windy so extra care is needed, it is better to drive slowly and let the faster cars pass, there are alot of pull overs to do this.  There are also plenty of magnificant lookouts that should be visited on the way so give yourself a little more time for this.
